It is a known fact that tax and revenue collection are among the most fundamental ways
developing countries like Ethiopia can mobilize their own resources for sustainable development.
It is also a stellar symbol that reflects one’s passion and respect for the country. On March
2/2023, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed launched the tax and customs laws compliance national
campaign entitled “ግብር ለሃገር ክብር”. The yearly campaign aims to encourage citizens to pay
their taxes accordingly to alleviate the country's poverty. The movement is expected to elicit a
sense of national obligation and pride by contributing to Ethiopia’s sustainable growth and
development.
In the spirit of this campaign, the Association of External Auditors has prepared this
discussion forum in cooperation with Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority. On June
20/2023, the professional audit program was held at Capital Hotel and Spa. This report
summarizes the report along with essential points that have come to light through the elaborate
