A discussion was held on the evaluation of the auditing culture in Ethiopia Addis Ababa November 13, 2016 Ethiopian Accounting and Auditing Board November 13 and 14, 2016 He held a discussion at the Interlexery Hotel on a forum for 150 audit firm managers and professionals with the theme of evaluation of audit practice culture in Ethiopia.
On that day, the Minister of State of the Ministry of Finance and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ethiopian Accounting and Auditing Board, Dr. Job Tekalin, opened the forum with a speech and said that the forum is of great importance to the realization of the soundness of the country's financial system. Dr. Job mentioned that besides agriculture and investment, the Ethiopian economy has also shown changes in the service sector and noted that the accounting and auditing profession, which is behind all economic developments, also needs special attention. Today's forum is a manifestation of this, so they wished that the forum would be effective.
In the same way, the director general of the board, Mrs. Hikmet Abdella, said that our current situation requires competent professionals, so we should investigate our accounting and audit implementation culture and create capabilities that will make us competitive, and we should not be busy with teaching and raising awareness as before. The leaders and experts of the audit firm, the consultants and experts of the board's financial report and audit quality examination, volunteer experts of the field and the board's officials were present at the forum.
As a starting point for the discussion, Mr. Barnabas Getu, the board's audit quality control consultant, and Mr. Dereje Gelana, the financial reporting quality control consultant, presented the basic deficiencies observed during the implementation of IFRS and the discussion was held by the participants. The discussion will end on November 14/2016.
